Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.

I feel the same sense of wonder and sadness every time i listen to the point he guides you towards, because none of us may live to see the day when love overtakes fear as the dominant force on Earth. But for all the good folk out there, he is thankfully one of many beacons that hold the darkness at bay, even if it’s just in my head right now, i guess that just has to be enough to risk going to bed tonight and waking up tomorrow.

I thought he died of pancreatic cancer?

Entertaining? The reason why his material still stands on its own today is because it went way beyond just entertainment. Jokes are tools and Hicks wasn’t using them to entertain us. He used the “jokes” to seduce us to think and use our imaginations. His jokes were not designed to pacify us they were designed to encourage us to think and feel, to be emotionally involved as he once said, even if it is anger.

brilliant.

He was not a great comedian, but I don’t think he was trying to be a comedian.
He was just giving his thoughts and insights to a room full of people and trying to keep it entertaining, and that was what he was great at.

I guess it was the half ass impersonations, the cowboy hat and the “we lost a moron” dance. That was pretty lame. But again, I agree with his message. Smart guy

Maybe you think of him as a bad actor cause he isn’t ‘acting’ at all? You ever considered some people don’t act when expressing themselves – on stage or not?
January 8th, 2009 at 9:17 pm
Thats the point though really!! Theres not really anything else to say untill the message is trully realised

pure genious, amazing insight, not a totally new concept or idea but had enough balls to relay it to the world the way that he did. one of a kind.

he’s a little off putting, a bad actor but i agree 100% with him, although his message isnt really unique

He died from “chemotherapy”, the voodoo of Medicine of today. It’s the “cure” that came from mustard gas effects on a dying soldier that had cancer, and the mustard gas killed the cancer. So Wow, if we poison people, cancer cells die. So do people. Some people make it .. ie Live. But it’s not a cure, it’s a crapshoot. Sorry we lost Bill Hicks to it.

Bill Hicks also opened some Tool shows back in the day, apparently. Too bad I wasn’t there, it must have been amazing.

Bill Hicks was truly a master. He wasn’t just funny, but he also had a message, unlike most comedians of today. Shame we lost him so early…
By the way, happy new year ^^

Greatest stand up comedian that ever lived in my humble opinion…in this age of bullshit and spin its nice to hear the truth. Such a shame he died so young, we need more people like him around
